134 HI-SOLV TECHNICAL DATA

Column

NSN6850-01-277-0595 / 5-GAL CAN

HI-SOLV is a solvent degreaser where confined atmospheric conditions require a cleaner that helps meet the federal government’s directive for reduction of hazardous materials or where EPA air pollution restrictions necessitate solvents with low vapor pressure. It is considered a safe replacement for PD-680 (dry cleaning solvent, Stoddard solvent) with a high flash point. Its non-conductive and controlled evaporation properties make it an ideal replacement for the more volatile solvents (including chlorinated and fluorocarbon materials) previously used.

HI-SOLV has been found to last approximately 4 times longer than PD-680, when used in parts wash cleaning tanks, making it cost-effective, and adds to the savings by reducing hazardous waste disposal.

This is accomplished because of the high purity and low volatility of the components used in its formulation.

Because of its purity, HI-SOLV is much less aggressive to the skin, substantially reducing the risk of dermatitis.

In an Air Force study, HI-SOLV was determined in laboratory tests to be biodegradable when handled in industrial wastewater treatment plants. This study was done by EG&G IDAHO TINKER AFB. OKLA. and was sponsored by AIR FORCE ENGINEERING & SERVICES CTR, TYNDALL AFB, FL. REPORT #ESL-TR-89-04 (PH. 904-283-2942).

Non-regulated material does not require flammable storage.

General Uses:

Column

  1. Electrical motors and equipment: Brush or spray until surface is covered, allow a few seconds to penetrate and re-spray to flush off. Di-electric strength permits cleaning of motors and equipment without shutting off your power (except arcing or DC equipment).

  2. Machinery and production parts: Dip, brush, or spray, allow time for penetration and spray with HI-SOLV to flush off. Since HI-SOLV is consumed in the cleaning process, no makeup, analysis, or additions are required.

Column

  1. Hydraulic systems: Flush through system to remove contaminated oils, follow with blow drying or allow enough time to air dry.
  2. Food service: It may be used under FDA guidelines as a cleaner and diluent for lubricants used in ovens and other food service equipment. It will not leave any odor that may contaminate food.
  3. Gunnery equipment: Because of confined spaces in which PMS is performed, HI-SOLV is an ideal cleaner for these areas. Its low residual after drying help reduce the oily film that attracts dust and other contaminants.
